Several taxpayers are misusing the identity of other persons to obtain fake registrations under the GST law. Misuse of identities to obtain fake GST registrations has resulted in substantial revenue losses for the government. In response, a two-month special all-India drive against fake GST registrations has been initiated by CBIC. All Central and State Tax administrations have started this Special All-India Drive during from the period 16th May 2023 to 15th July 2023.
To ensure a smooth process and avoid penalties or last-minute rush during the Departmental Officers visit at premises, it is essential to have the following details readily available at your registered place of business-
- GST Registration Certificate affixed at the principal place of business and additional place of business.
- Sign Board at the principal place of business and additional place of business shall include GSTIN.
- Maintain proper records of—
- Inward and outward supplies of goods or services or both;
- stock of goods;
- production or manufacture of goods;
- input tax credit availed;
- output tax payable and paid
Every owner or operator of warehouse or godown or any other place used for storage of goods and every transporter, shall maintain records of the consigner, consignee and other relevant details of the goods in such manner as may be prescribed.
